Origin of Hygeia in Astrology

It is only natural that you seek advice from the stars at a time when health issues are at the center of discussion. However, uncovering evidence of a heavenly crisis only validates what you see on earth in real-time. It is worth recalling that the way you deal with events every day provides you authority.

Maybe you have used strange self-care routines alone or have established a deeper affinity to relaxation. You’ve found strategies to avoid strains and fear in the immune system, and there are chances that your wellness routines and your birth chart contain some fascinating analogies.

Hygeia was a girl in Greek and Roman mythology, the daughter of Asclepius, the god of medicine. He can be seen in the logo of the World Health Organization, whose symbol of a single serpent entangled around a staff that adorns ambulances.

She is one of the five sisters representing health and healing. Hygeia’s specialty was prevention, how to look after your physical and mental beings to avoid disease as opposed to remedial diseases once contracted.

The word “Hygiene” stems from “Hygeia,” but its definition extends beyond essential sanitation.

It’s unbelievable that most evidence of her worship originates from the years after the plague in 430 BC in Athens that killed up to 80,000 people. Although she was constantly worshipped over millennia, there are few images of her along with mentions of her name and what she looks like.

A painting made by Gustav Klimpt known as “Medicine” is her best-known portrait. Hygeia, dressed in orange and gold and held with a snake around her arm, was commissioned for the University of Vienna.

Hygeia in Astrology’s Role in Your Natal Chart

Goddess Hygeia has given excellent judgment, maintaining the balance within the body and mind of the delicate flora and wildlife. She controls the little things that you do every day. For example, drinking sufficient water, sleeping well, doing proper breathing exercises, all of which are often neglected.

Asteroid Hygeia in astrology was discovered in 1849 and is the fourth-largest asteroid in our Solar System that has been around the Sun for five and a half years. Astronomers estimate that Hygeia’s orbit is subject to some random fluctuations over time, given the gravitational attraction of neighboring planets Jupiter and Saturn.

Health awareness (Hygeia), as understood astrologically, is often stuck between idealism (Jupiter) and conservatism (Saturn). It is in line with the prevailing cultural paradigm to “be healthy” by using preventive methods, such as diet, exercise, medication, and immunizations, meditation, or philosophy.

Regardless of today’s doctrine, Hygeia’s archetype combines science and sensibility. Recognizing its position in the birth chart helps you to make good health choices. It shows the predictive self-awareness if it is positive as well as how illness can appear if it is negative.

Notably, the presence of Hygeia in astrology in the charts of people working in dentistry and nutrition. The same goes for those who work in studying the physical condition, environment, preservation, and holistic methods of healing which are found to be strong.

The Signs and Aspects of Asteroid Hygeia in the Natal Chart

#1: Aries or the 1st House

Experiencing illness or witnessing another person’s health crisis during their formative years becomes personality-defining for these people. They take direct ownership of their personal fitness, exploring different modalities. These individuals constantly update their health goals after suffering the consequences of neglecting preventive care, which they associate with losing their independence.

#2: Taurus or the 2nd House

For their exquisite and often pricey tastes, this Hygeia curates their wellness experience. These people are drawn to sensual mood-boosters like aromatherapy and massage because they are in tune with their bodies and can sense when something feels “off.” Though this usually leads to healthy eating habits, overindulging when they’re anxious can make them feel sluggish. They should also focus on their finances unless they intend to settle with low-cost vitamin brands.

#3: Gemini or the 3rd House

These people value their intellect, keeping it sharp through puzzles, mental teasers, and keeping up with current events. Self-care might be too emotional for some people, and they may try to cram all of their doctor’s appointments into one day so that they “don’t have to worry about them.” They must strive to cherish their bodies as much as they love their minds.

#4: Cancer or the 4th House

This Hygeia setting is relaxing at home and helps to relax the mind by allowing it to hibernate. Time spent with family and close friends is essential but because this is such an empathetic location. It is necessary to maintain a sense of balance in order to prevent absorbing other people’s psychic energy. This can result in undue anxiety. These people must be careful not to lose their balance by taking on burdens that aren’t theirs.

#5: Leo or the 5th House

These people channel their stressed energies into creative endeavors. Health can feel like a game in which one wins or loses, dependent on one’s ability to participate in recreational activities. Art, music, comedy, spending time with children or animals, or participating in sports that place a stronger focus on strategy rather than fighting spirit are examples of these activities. Vices such as gambling or binge-watching mindless entertainment are their downfalls. These “quick cures,” while satisfying in the time, frequently cause more issues than they solve.

#6: Virgo or the 6th House

On the surface, this appears to be the ideal location, yet Hygeia as a sign of purity does not always imply a focus on health. Daily routines are viewed as acts of wellness by these people, yet some habits can be tiring or unnecessary. This Hygeia may become enslaved by habit, and the possibility of missing their ritual causes more anxiety than the relief of doing it. They must be aware of their priorities, as it is possible to follow a holistic wellness program and still skip meals.

#7: Libra or the 7th House

This Hygeia placement’s balance is based on inner harmony.  These people rarely know what will keep them healthy and anxiety-free until they discover it, whether by chance or when a friend refers them to a technique, class, or health expert. Because they are frequently blown about by chance, they must learn to make determined and responsible decisions without relying on the judgments of others. Then they will have a sense of control over their health.

#8: Scorpio or the 8th House

Although sex may appear to be the natural activity here, this person requires more than just release. You’ll find that facing phobias helps your immune system grow as well. They feel powerful when they take risks, and they feel healthy when they feel empowered. These sensitive souls are prone to paranoia, such as shadowboxing fictitious health problems. When people trust their intuition, the mind-body link is restored, and their health improves.

#9: Sagitarrius or the 9th House

These people adapt to new environments quickly because they are less affected by homesickness and culture shock. Continuous exposure to new ideas and ideologies is their barometer for inner stability, and they are more likely to adopt the wellness practices of other cultures. Since mobility is their friend, they feel stressed when they are constrained by tradition or compelled to establish roots in situations that are unsuitable for their development.

#10: Capricorn or the 10th House

This Hygeia position falls under individuals who link health with social interactions. If they are not “making progress,” these people become concerned. They frequently exercise in gyms or yoga studios, where they can meet teachers and trainers who will hold them accountable to their fitness goals. Although having a healthy appearance has its advantages, one should not put themselves under unnecessary stress for the sake of appearances or the longing for admiration.

#11: Aquarius or the 11th House

By studying what inspires others, these people modify their approach to wellbeing over time. Even if their approaches or modalities appear counterintuitive, it’s better if they surround themselves with a network of health-conscious people. When introduced to fresh information, these natives must be conscious of how absorbent they are. They may fall into similar traps out of unconscious solidarity if they are among others who ignore their minds and bodies.

#12: Pisces or the 12th House

These people are drawn to wellness activities that take place behind closed doors or in solitude. This could include everything from faith-based activities like prayer to metaphysical divination like tarot and astrology, as well as journaling to reflect on the events of the day. These people need a good rest since they use the REM cycle to recover from stress and are generally good at decoding their dreams to predict favorable future events.
