Strengths as a Couple
The style these two personalities usually carry is an interesting mix. The Mutable Air of Gemini goes with the flow, and they rarely have anything to hide. The Fixed Water of Scorpio, meanwhile, while not their complete opposite, is more secretive and reserved.
Because of this, they have much to teach and learn from one another. Scorpio has one of the best teachers in the Zodiac for them to learn to open up. Meanwhile, Gemini has one of the most infamously secretive members of the Great Wheel to teach them the value of discretion and privacy.
What defines this relationship is the couple's shared passion. This permeates everything about their relationship. On the one hand, passion in love, affection, and very wild sexual encounters are intense as the light of the sun at noon.
It’s easy to see why. Scorpio is a Water Element. Fixed as they may be, they’re still vulnerable to getting swept up by Gemini’s airy schemes. The weight of their partner’s depths will help eventually ground Gemini’s wilder sides and create a positive feedback loop from which the pair will find mutually beneficial.
Weaknesses as a Couple
They’re prone to intense emotions and are very stubborn. The Air elemental has no desire to be blown in any direction it had no desire to go to, and the Water elemental is made stubborn by design. Expect their disagreements to devolve into petty squabbles as neither side wants to meet the other, even halfway.
Compounding matters is the fact that these two have conflicting personal values that don’t always mix. Dictated by very different celestial bodies, it’s only natural for these two to believe in very different things. One is closed off and cloistered, the other is aloof and carefree. Of course, there will be clashing opinions.
The dark side of their mutual passion rears its ugly head when things get heated between them, be it arguments, fights, or general disagreements, they tend to become intense, savage, and vicious very easily, very quickly.
It’s in instances like these where communication between one another begins to fail, and when they don’t make any effort to alleviate this and talk things out, the relationship may not find itself lasting for very long, and the ensuing fallout will only get worse.
Compatibility
Romance
Fixed Water and Mutable Air's capacity for romance is rather limited as they mix together about as well as oil and Water. Gemini’s as-the-crow-flies mentality towards everything, including their own relationships with others, is anathema to Scorpio’s need for a deep and passionate connection to their beloved.
On the flipside, Scorpio’s needs may turn off Gemini as they come off too greedy and possessive for the free-spirited, easy-going Air sign.
This aloofness can be, and usually is, interpreted by the Scorpio mind as simply being superficial and far shallower than their claimed complexity would have others believe. This utter lack of depth and investment is Scorpio shorthand for ‘You’re not taking this seriously, so why should I?’ and will be the source of quick termination of any potential relationships between the two.
Should the pair push forward and attempt romance anyway, they will be in for a constant, difficult dance of learning and living with each others’ personalities.
Activities
Scorpio and Gemini seem almost built to disagree with one another, and yet one of the few values that the Mutable Air and Fixed Water signs will agree upon is their love for adventure and openness for new experiences.
Of course, their motivations are very different. Gemini just wants a new piece of scenery or a new game to play once in a while. Scorpio meanwhile is always looking for new experiences to later dissect and find deeper meaning in.
The pair will have the most fun when they try something new and have fun doing it, be it a new game, a new hobby, or a new place they've never traveled to before.
Things will begin to break down, however, once the novelty of the experience wears off. Scorpio, as a fixed sign, is more than happy to just keep doing what it's always done and turn the activity into a routine. Gemini, meanwhile, not so much; novelty is sometimes the only reason why they do things at all.
To keep things relatively simple, Scorpio will probably enjoy bringing Gemini along with them on vacation to Oahu or Ibiza for the first time. But if they want to return there, they’re better off bringing someone else with them to enjoy the sights and sounds of their world.
Communication
One good thing about Gemini’s qualities of Mutable Air is their capacity to openly communicate with all of the signs with exceptional ease. So much so, that even Scorpio, for all its secrecy, will usually open up, even slightly.
Gemini will be drawn to Scorpio’s depth and complexity, as the Fixed Water sign will have a lot to say for anyone they’ve let into their inner circle of compatriots and confidants.
This will be fine right up to the point where Scorpio's inherent darkness begins to show. At that point, Gemini's aloofness will kick in, and the conversation will swiftly end; Gemini will not stay in the darkness for longer than they absolutely need to. Scorpio will find this a grave insult, as they see their darkness as a necessary factor to consider when looking at the world through their eyes.
The relationship will only further sour from that point as Scorpio will come to realize that their partner will not be capable of stimulating discussion. While they may know much about certain topics and carry some bits of erudition with them, they might find a lack of interest in Gemini's fields of expertise, or already know what Gemini has to offer.
Bottom line, Gemini will make for a decent distraction for Scorpio and can probably hold a conversation, and Gemini will probably learn a considerable amount of knowledge from Scorpio’s vast mental libraries, but Scorpio will have to find someone else to scratch their intellectual needs.
Values
Both parties are known for their mental fortitude.
The reasons behind this are very different, of course. Gemini needs to be mentally strong because of how they carry themselves as these open mic communicators that will talk to and entertain any thought that passes by their periphery and just as quickly drop these ideas as soon as they believe its been wrung dry of any substance to glean.
Scorpio meanwhile is one of the agents of the Great Complexities. They will fixate on a theory or idea or emotion and will come back to these thoughts again and again and again like miners chipping away at the side of a mountain, picking apart the same patches of dirt and rock to look for gold.
The pair will find at least some mutual respect in the fact that both parties quite clearly value their ability for independent thought and resourcefulness in almost any situation.
Emotions
This is where the relationship will face its greatest challenges yet.
Being of Mutable Air, Gemini holds very few attachments. Not to say that they can’t find themselves emotionally invested in someone or something, but the capacity for such isn’t nearly as intense or as communicated as the other signs. It also doesn’t help that Gemini is easily spooked by intense emotions coming from elsewhere.
This is where Scorpio will lose their minds, as they will struggle to communicate their emotions in any other capacity except for high intensity. In the same vein, they need that intensity to be matched to feel any form of satisfaction from a relationship.
Not to say that these differences are irreconcilable, but the amount of work these two need to put in to adjust to each others’ emotional capacity is immense, and can very easily fray them, or each other, apart.
