Ruler

As a Ruler, you will find yourself as someone who’s naturally gifted to be a conqueror. Your aspirations are all anchored around one central concept: conquest. Where there are things to take, you are there to receive.

Furthermore, you also possess a certain ambition that allows you to thrive even in the toughest of odds. In fact, your archetype is most often found unafraid of any challenge. Even the worst battles are but a stepping stone to power.

Thus, many both love and accord you with the right amount of respect. You possess both an intellectual sword and a bravado that effectively acts as your shield. You are a well-rounded individual, able to deal with people and situations befitting the very archetype of power.

Basic Qualities

Extrovert

You are:

  • Likeable/Cheerful
  • Confident
  • Energetic
  • Thill-seeking/Daring
  • Gregarious

As an extrovert, you exude positive energy. You confidently carry that contagious power to do things. You are never afraid of your flaws, for you understand that it is part of who you are. Instead, you take pride in your battle scars, constantly signifying your challenges and the accolades that come with it.

More importantly, you are also thrill-seeking and daring. This means that you’re determined to try new things out constantly. Finally, being gregarious necessitates being with others. As an extrovert, you thrive in expressing yourself to those around you, as their attention gives validation to your own identity.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Boredom levels
  • Co-dependency
  • Self-centeredness
  • Lack of Identity
  • External Verification of Self-Esteem

Being an extrovert, you are prone to the possible weaknesses mentioned above. For one, you tend to be self-centered. Since you seek your own happiness above all else, those around you can sometimes become a tool instead of a companion.

The same also holds true as you search for self-validation. Relying on people’s praises and appreciation may bite your back, as they can also subtly shape who you are. Left unchecked, these traits may lead you farther from knowing yourself, as you unknowingly allow others to shape your reality.

Egocentric

You are:

  • Self-regarded
  • Self-aware
  • Decisive
  • Logical
  • Professional

Most people are quick to crucify the egoist. In fact, you’ve probably been perceived as someone who looks only after yourself and your possessions. When helping others, you often do so knowing that you will benefit in some way, and people sometimes can’t help but think you’re only using them for your own advancement. In a way, you are perceived as entirely Machiavellian.

But this is a folly. Self-interested as you are, selfishness isn’t exactly a bad thing. After all, it represents the part of our instinct that tells us to look after ourselves, and in this regard, you are a pro. Because of your fundamental desire to survive, you are cunning, decisive, and always precise about what you do. You are, therefore, extremely reliable.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Rudeness
  • Pride
  • Selfishness
  • Insincerity
  • Loneliness

Predictably, the egoist’s true enemy is his own friend: yourself. The irony of this is magnified in part because you are supposed to know yourself completely. However, even with your immense self-knowledge, you can still fall prey to your worst impulses, manifested in your occasional bouts of arrogance.

If you aren’t able to control the worst of your own impulses, you may end up feeling extremely lonely. This is because none of these traits can make people approach you sincerely; every last bit of these only turns people away. As such, you should try your hardest to be empathetic and understand other people’s perspectives.

Rational

You are:

  • Critical
  • Logical
  • Persuasive
  • Articulate
  • Efficient

Rational people are sometimes seen as cold and calculating. Indeed, you can give this impression yourself because of how often you use your mind more than your heart. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. You are acutely aware that the world is an unpredictable place and that one needs to make sense of it to make things work for themselves and everyone else.

For this reason, you prefer the use of reason before reckless impulse. To you, there is a right place and time for unleashing one’s true feelings. In the meantime, problems should be solved first in order to facilitate the perfect outcome. This capacity for patience and wisdom makes you a valuable ally to anyone who seeks your help.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Arrogance
  • Condescension
  • Manipulation
  • Inflexibility
  • Excessive criticism

Rational people often live inside their own heads. As such, while you can pull off a lot of good things and help others find their way with your natural grasp of logic and reason, it can also pave the way for elitism. After all, intellect is one of humanity’s most sought-after talents. Sure, you can lift your muscle and impress people, but you can destroy lives with just your own mind.

Such is the overwhelming power of the spirit that it can sometimes overtake you and make you completely unbendable in the face of critique. You may think yourself too superior to be subjected to criticism or even criticize and be sarcastic to people who are just asserting themselves. As such, you people need to keep your pride in check to prevent stagnation and conflict.

Turbulent

You are:

  • Humorous
  • Understanding
  • Spiritually deep
  • Self-improver

Turbulence is often perceived negatively. After all, this relates to the idea of one’s emotional instability. However, turbulence isn’t always as bad as people put it to be. Instead, this basic quality empowers a different kind of drive – one that digs deeper towards oneself.

In general, people are turbulent primarily because they’ve established a strong connection with their emotions. Because of this, they become emotional. In a positive way, this allows them to relate with others well, as turbulent individuals can better grasp how things are going.

Things to pay attention to:

  • Poor emotional regulation
  • Anxiety
  • Depressive symptoms
  • Indecisiveness

Problems often arise as a result of your unstable emotions. For one, dealing with others can be problematic as the slightest irritation can result in unprecedented conflict. Unable to manage your reactions well, you can become feisty or even aggressive towards them.

Clouding your judgment, turbulence can lead you to become indecisive.  If not, bottling in your emotional dissonance can lead to an endless swirl of internal problems. Manifesting in forms of anxiety and/or depression, your inability to regulate how you feel can accumulate negative feelings deep within.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

Assertiveness

As an extroverted personality, the Ruler archetype is known for having assertiveness as one of its greatest strengths. What this means is that you are the sort of person who will gladly argue your points with others.

When in an argument, you won’t find yourself back down. As a matter of fact, the more you are questioned, the more you push yourself into finding a meaningful answer to make sure that whatever your decision is at that moment will be infallible and perfectly accurate.

Clarity of thought and feeling

As egocentric types, Rulers often understand their feelings above anything else. They are also extremely aware when they’re being emotional or being logical. This unique ability to separate facts from feelings is what gives them clarity.

In a way, this clarity helps you a lot especially during tense situations where you are forced to do something rapidly. People in tense situations can be more emotional than logical, and as a Ruler, you are ready to put your foot down and tell everyone that they’re using their emotions more than their minds.

Persuasive

Rationality demands that one be persuasive in their arguments with other people. Having the gall to defend your stand is just part of the equation; you also need to make sure you have enough facts to persuade.

Luckily, you have dominion over this area. As a Ruler, you are acutely aware that having authority means being factual. As such, you will be well-read in any topic you engage in. In fact, even in general knowledge, you’ll also have a likely edge since you understand that you also need to be well-rounded to rule properly.

Goal-oriented

Having a turbulent personality means that you need some sort of anchor to make sure that wherever the winds of your personality take you, you will always have a constant to focus on. As it turns out, this is another department in which the Ruler excels.

More importantly, however, is the fact that when you’re put in a team, you are likely going to try and map out goals for your team as well. In some ways, people might think you’re bossy for this, but it’s this exact penchant for goal-setting that naturally allows a team to truly thrive. Whatever criticism you might get initially for doing this will quickly be overturned by support from other people later.

Weaknesses

Self-centered

The desire for power can be a blessing. However, for the Ruler, it can also be quite a curse. The main problem with the lust for power is that it necessitates prioritizing oneself over other people.

This self-centeredness can then result in an environment where only your requests are supposed to be given their due weight. Everyone else’s requests or feelings can be sidelined, and only your opinion is the law. This can be extremely destructive to the relationship dynamic and cause friction. This friction can then end up being fatal to any relationship– especially romantic ones, which often rely on both partners being on equal terms.

Domineering

The main problem with the Ruler is that they can be absolutely dictatorial and domineering. In your case, this means that you might have a tendency to hijack conversations or highlight your own supremacy over others. It can even be some kind of narcissism.

Unfortunately, this can literally sour any relationship. In the long run, your friends might see you as someone who only cares about self-promotion, and deep down, they may start rethinking their relationship with you. This means that while you can appreciate your own individuality and be glad about your gifts, that doesn’t mean you should throw away your relationships just for self-aggrandizement. When the desire to dominate kicks in, remember not to take yourself too seriously and that you should be kind.

Patronizing

Your preference for living an enlightened life– and being seen as an enlightened, rational person is well-noted among all archetypes. However, for the Ruler, this love of ascendancy can itself take a dark turn, especially when communicating with other people.

The difficult part with this particular trait is that sometimes it can be quite difficult to detect on your end. It’s easy to grasp the idea of feeling superior over other people, but it can be quite difficult to see the manifestations of this particular attitude. You may, for example, not notice in your use of sarcasm or witty rhetoric that you are making a person feel bad about their own limitations. You may also be harsh in your criticism, always comparing their output with that of your own.

Anxious

Beneath the bravado that a Ruler would so typically possess is an equal amount of uncertainty about a lot of things. They tend to question their own worth, their own capacity for power, or even whether they should even be pursuing their goals in the first place. These are perfectly normal thoughts, of course, but as you may notice, this can often be unhelpful to you.

As a weakness, it alone can lead you to actually take a pause in whatever you’re doing. You may, for example, think that you’re not capable of doing something, so you may not take the leap of faith into what would otherwise be an awesome opportunity in your career.

Romantic Relationships

Emotional

Due to your turbulent nature, you can often be emotional. Whereas other archetypes tend to be logical and reasonable, you are inclined to be more creative and emotionally dictated.

When you are in a relationship, this tendency will bring flavor. As such, you may often seek to have intimate, emotionally charged moments with your partner. Everything that goes in your relationship is going to matter because your emotions will compel you to care about the smallest details.

Given this, you are likely to look for someone who can empathize with this feeling. The questions that will govern you as you seek a life partner is whether they have enough empathy to put themselves on your shoes.

This also affects the way you end up solving problems together. As the Ruler, you may have a public persona that’s strong and bold, but in private conversation, you may be significantly more affectionate and fragile with your emotions. This is because you feel a sense of security when you are with someone you truly like.

Demanding

Looking at the core qualities of your archetype, we’ll see a Ruler who desires the absolute best in any given situation. To them, being in a superior spot always means being in control, and this will manifest undoubtedly as being demanding in a relationship.

This trait often manifests in your likelihood to regularly test your partner’s abilities and loyalty. You can be demanding in terms of what to look for on a date, and you can be especially demanding once the relationship takes off.

All of this stems from the need to simply see things being stable. Although the primary purpose of this trait stems from control, it’s really only the case because control gives stability. In other words, you are consciously setting up high expectations because you do not want your relationship to simply flounder.

Viewed in this light, your demanding attitude can be a positive thing. It means that you will regularly grow with your partner and that you won’t allow your relationship to run stale under any circumstances. You will always find something to do and be happy about, and you will always expect great things from your great equal.

Friendships

Persuasive

One key trait of your archetype is your ability to argue for anything with authority. As a Ruler, you are naturally inclined to see things from a top-down level, which means that you can view things from a more objective– and therefore persuasive– standpoint than others.

Naturally, this sort of method allows you to actually connect with your friends in a different way. As a Ruler, you are likely to be an expert or at least knowledgeable of a certain field, so they are going to come to you for advice. The best part is that it doesn’t have to be just purely intellectual matters either: even in love, you can be quite the authority!

Expressive

An essential component of a Ruler is the ability to express oneself. This is because expression naturally helps build your sense of gravitas and authority. It also means that you have enough self-love to actually tell everyone who you really are, further increasing the sense of authenticity that your friends might pick up from interacting with you.

In your case, it naturally means that you are perfectly extroverted and willing to tell everyone your honest opinion about matters. Since you are also a rational person, this means that your opinions will be held with great respect, consistent with the idea of an authoritative figure.

At times, this desire for expression can be considered overbearing or even intimidating, as people may think you are too candid. For example, when talking about sensitive matters, you may cut to the heart of the issue without looking at your opinion’s timing.

Workplace Habits

Great leadership

In the workplace, Rulers love to lead others. Naturally inclined to guide people in the right direction, Rulers can truly bring greatness to any time. As a Ruler, you are likely to exhibit this habit and be willing to guide team members towards achieving the tasks.

In your case, this means that you are always aiming to make your colleagues more efficient in any goal that is set before them. You won’t just order them around and leave them to do as you bid. You will create work patterns for them and make sure they are at their best.

Pursues achievement

Rulers are fueled by a need to make themselves known, and it’s no different in your case. Within you is the desire to achieve and outdo the people around you. You are very competitive and eager to show your stuff at work, and you often regularly engage in friendly rivalries with anyone who actually wants to also improve themselves.

In terms of performance, this naturally bodes well for you. Since you aim to be in the lead at some point, your output is going to be more numerous and qualitative than everyone else’s. In fact, you’ll likely act as a mentor for some of your other colleagues who might need your help. For example, you may not be the leader per se, but you have enough gravitas to make sure that your opinions are heard and taken into account by your team.

Aims for efficiency

The rational side of the Ruler aims above all at efficiency. Work can be extremely tedious and tiring, and as such, one needs to make sure that they are spending the least amount of energy and time while maximizing the quality and quantity of their own output.

Naturally, this means that you are going to be heavily meticulous with your schedule. If you have complete freedom over the schedule, you tend to make sure that everything is finished on time and that there is still time enough for you to spare doing other things. This unquestioning desire for efficiency will naturally lead to you leading a healthier work life.

Goes beyond the call

Rulers are capable of performing beyond their normal duties and will often opt to do so. This is because, above all else, they are able to see problems that most people might not see. They are also aware that doing so gives them even more gravitas and can help advance them further as they acquire new experiences. In other words, going beyond the call gives them two further advantages.

On the one hand, it allows them to advance further into the ranks. Each time they go overtime, they become more and more capable of doing their job, and their dedication will translate into better outputs and more excellent results for any person they work for.

This then translates into further respect at work. The fact that you often exceed your normal limits will endear you to many colleagues who depend on your natural ability to make a difference.
