Origin of Chiron in Astrology
A planetoid named Chiron is one of the most recently found heavenly bodies. While there are disagreements about whether this body is a comet or an asteroid, its strength is well recognized. On its way between Saturn and Uranus, it was initially seen in 1977.
The asteroid was named after the Centaur in Greek Mythology called Chiron. Chiron's mother was a water nymph who, in an attempt to flee Zeus' romantic advances, transformed herself into a horse. She could not, however, manage to flee, and Zeus impregnated her as a result. She was shocked when she discovered her infant was half horse and half boy when she gave birth to him. The mother prayed to the gods to turn her into a tree because she was so afraid, and her wish came true.
As a result, Chiron's parents both abandoned him. Rather than dwelling on it, he went on to become an accomplished teacher and healer. He was presenting a poisoned arrow to a student one day when it fell and punctured his leg.
His father was immortal because he was a god, hence he could not die. He appealed to the gods to let him die because he was in excruciating pain. They put him out of his misery and placed him in the heavens as a thank you for his teachings.
The wounded healer is Chiron. This asteroid is dedicated to everyone who, rather than succumbing to despair in the midst of their own sorrow, reaches out to help others avoid the same pain they endured.
Numerous people who had a difficult childhood go on to become psychiatrists or therapists so that they can assist others deal with the same issues that affected them. These folks are affected by the beneficent Chiron. It can be therapeutic for a person to assist others in coping with a pain that they have experienced.
What can the Asteroid Chiron teach you?
Chiron indicates an unhealed wound that must be accepted for the greater good. Your suffering serves as a portal to your enlightenment.
"The qualifications of the chronic healer are those of real-world experience, in contrast to theoretic knowledge garnered in books and classes," writes Demetra George in Astrology and the Authentic Self, noting that the centaur's discovery corresponded with the emergence of 12 Step programs.
Chiron, no matter where he appears in your horoscope, has something to teach you - and potentially the rest of the universe. It's only a matter of confronting him.
