Origin of Pallas in Astrology

Athena was one of Greece's most important figures as the goddess of war, victory, craft, and wisdom. She was said to have been born from her father Zeus' head in full armor, hence the surname "Pallas Athene." Her birth symbolizes a strong identity as a "Daddy's Girl" and a fighter. Furthermore,  Athena was known to be the patroness of ancient heroes such as Hercules, and she wore Medusa's head on her breastplate after assisting Perseus in killing her.

Athena, an unmarried virgin goddess, had to channel her life energy into her intellectual capabilities and "creative intelligence" as astrologer Demetra George refers to it. The owl and spear, two of Athena's symbols of wisdom and war, speak to the Greeks' complex understanding of her.

When the head and the heart come together, Athena demonstrates the ability to think for oneself, as well as the internal balance of active and receptive energies. As a symbol of craft, she taught practical arts such as pottery, weaving, and embroidery, as well as guiding craftsmen in their unique integrity.

Pallas in Astrology’s Role in Your Natal Chart

Pallas Athene, also known as Pallas, was the second asteroid discovered in 1802 and the 3rd largest in diameter. Whereas Mercury and other planets receive a lot of coverage during their retrograde periods, people frequently overlook Pallas in astrology. The asteroid goes back four months from zero degrees (next to Saturn) to 12 degrees (Capricorn) between May 17 and September 25.

This cosmic process collectively leads us to review our beliefs and balance polarity of thought to incorporate intuition or wisdom itself, knowledge, and logic. Pallas' abilities enable us to see patterns and broader images useful for solving problems and creativity. In birth charts, our curiosity is shown through this bigger vision and our particular brilliance.

This is why learning, teaching, and writing may involve this. However, it may be prone to black-and-white thinking or some know-how-all-like attitude when out of balance, like Mercury. Pallas in astrology varies from Mercury because linear thinking and planning are less focused and pattern identification and other forms of knowledge are more emphasized.

Like many other paradoxes inherent in philosophical reasoning, Pallas in astrology can bridge the intellect and the intuitive. The placing of signs and aspects gives you insights into your comprehension and perception, as well as the way you externally express and observe creative genius.
