The powerful scorpion is hailed for being some of the most devoted signs out there. Though their element is water, their passion and love for other people can burn others like a fire, exemplified symbolically by its painful stinger. Anyone unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of a Scorpio’s wrath is sure to regret it.

Aside from this, however, they are also known for being socially sensitive. They may have a hard exterior and an imposing figure, but they are also very kind and gentle to those whom they look after. Their kindness is such that they will always try to make sure that you’re okay and not hurt anywhere.

They are treasured friends capable of great gentleness and even greater ferocity.

Symbolism and Myth

The Scorpio symbol happens to be its very namesake: the Scorpion. Although fundamentally not invasive, the Scorpion is a territorial animal with a powerful stinger on its tail that could kill animals and even inflict considerable damage upon human beings.

In the Greek myths, it is said that Scorpio itself was sent to challenge the powerful Orion. When he was finally defeated in battle, Gaia saw fit to reward her champion with a place in the universe, forevermore giving rise to the constellation that we see today.

This constellation has since become tied to Roman truths as well, with Mars effectively serving as a conduit and an extension of its will. The Scorpion, though defensive, has been recognized throughout the ages as a mighty foe capable of bringing devastation to even gods– and such was the reverence of antiquity that we still fear the Scorpion even today.

Modality, Element, Season

Scorpio and Fixed Modality

The Scorpio zodiac sign has a fixed modality. This modality is what makes them the most stubborn out of all the water signs, and it also informs the kind of person that they really are as a result of their stubbornness. Make no mistake: the stubbornness that they possess isn’t the result of some defect on their part, but because of their emotional connection.

They represent humanity’s desire to fiercely protect that which they treasure, and while this is ultimately a good thing, the problem is that they can at times harm the wrong people as a result of their fixed modality. This can be controlled, however, so not all hope is lost. Caring and protectiveness can exist in equilibrium

Scorpio and the Water Element

The Scorpio Zodiac sign feels most at home with the water element. In the astrological world, the meaning of water is that of bringing life and passion. It means being creative and expressing yourself according to your own specifications. Some will be like tidal waves, roaring and sweeping everything away, while others will prefer expressing themselves as gentle ripples.

In Scorpio’s case, they definitely have more preference towards being the former, but only because their passion is such that they feel more emotion the more they are distressed. They will defend others, and so they will threaten to figuratively drown anyone who dares make an enemy of their friends or tries to hurt them in any way, shape, or form. Such is their dedication.

Scorpio and the Autumn Season

The birth chart dictates that Scorpio dates fall between October 23 and September 21. This “Scorpio season” indicates the middle part of autumn, where things are starting to transition, and optimism is paving the way to realism– perhaps even cynicism and suffering! The truth is, however, that they have a role to play in these crucial times.

Scorpio is an emotional sign that helps people along fundamentally. Their overprotectiveness can be a problem, but in ideal situations, they can genuinely help people cope with the looming prospect of loss or sadness without being abrasive or painfully difficult about it. This is why they have the respect of other signs with regard to this season.

Planetary Relationships

The relationship between planets and signs is a good talking point in astrology. More specifically, however, there are certain planets that serve to both fuel and work against the Scorpio constellation and horoscope. It is for this reason, therefore, that we must discuss these in brief. These are:

Scorpio and the Moon

One of the primary detriments of the Scorpio zodiac sign happens to be the Moon. This is because the moon represents all the repressed emotions that people feel on a daily basis. Whether it is anger or lust, or anything that represents the kind of passion that Scorpios might possess, when these are unleashed in an uncontrolled way, the damage to others could be quite severe.

It is therefore imperative for the Scorpio zodiac sign to control themselves and their emotions.

Scorpio and Venus

Venus is also another problem for the Scorpio. The problem, in this case, happens to be the fact that Scorpio can be quite aggressive for a water sign. Though they are mainly defensive, their occasional bouts of aggression can mean that they do not suit the more homely vision of the Venusian signs. This can put them in serious trouble with signs that like to stay still or be stubborn such as Taurus.

Scorpio and Mars

Mars is a model planet for Scorpio because it is the planet of war and competition: two things that Scorpios tend to thrive in. Of course, they do not declare war upon other people themselves, but Scorpios are indeed very protective of others, to the point where they will sometimes challenge them in order to make sure that life doesn’t catch their friends off-guard.

Scorpio and Pluto

Pluto is another derivative ruler of the Scorpio, if only because it is the home of aggressive energy. Despite Pluto’s tiny size and unassuming stature within astrology, they are extremely capable of giving off enough aggressive energy for other receptive signs such as Scorpio to hone in on. This makes them even stronger at what they do.

House Rulership

In astrology, the “House” is a figurative base upon which certain signs revolve and operate. The general rule for the existence of these Houses is to further explain their place in the world and their role in the larger universe, and as such, this warrants much discussion. The Houses in question are:

Sixth House: The House of Wellness

The Sixth House is a particular domicile of the Scorpio zodiac sign. However, it does so for a more opposite reason. As a rule, it is a reminder that Scorpio tends to regularly stress itself out as a result of its constant worry and skepticism. Thus, the fact that this is their domicile means that Scorpios need to constantly work on looking for ways to make sure stress does not eventually overcome them.

The means in which they do this is through a combination of exercise and self-control, as only when they have full control of their faculties and aren’t quick to give in to their anger will they be able to truly unlock the full potential that’s hidden deep beneath its aggression.

Eighth House: The House of Intimacy

Scorpio’s passion places it on the Eighth House. The house itself governs all intimate matters– hugs, kisses, sex, and even simply having the strongest Platonic relationships. This may well be the case because Scorpios are infinitely passionate beings who will protect their loved ones when it matters.

They are also emotionally driven, and this emotion serves as the core and backbone of their intimacy. Without this backbone, it is impossible for the Scorpio to carry on forward with their life, and to this end, the Eighth House has to logically be the center of concern for Scorpio.

Personality

The Leo zodiac sign has a fiery personality that often likes to lead. They are quintessential rulers with a certain charisma and swagger about them. This swagger then allows them to appeal to the hearts of everyone around, ensuring their strong sense of loyalty. In other words, by sheer authority alone, Leo can influence other people’s decisions.

That besides, another crucial part of Leo personality is the desire for knowledge. In their spare time, you will often find them learning new things simply to boost their knowledge and stock on other people. The more they learn, the greater their grasp of something, the stronger their authority. It also means that they are able to project their energies upon other people better.

Strengths

The Scorpio zodiac sign derives its meaning from an animal that concerns itself with self-defense. Unsurprisingly, the strengths that inform the Scorpio horoscope likewise spring from this very fact. Take, for example, their loyalty. People of this sign will always cover for the other person– or even their company if necessary.

They aren’t the types to let things slide whenever someone hurts their friends. On the contrary, they can be roused to such powerful fits of aggression that they become essentially unstoppable. This means, therefore, that to tangle with the Scorpio zodiac sign by hurting their friends is to invite great misfortune.

Aside from their loyalty, they are also of the water sign, which means they are sensitive enough to figure out just by the body language whether or not something is wrong with the other sign. The Scorpio naturally looks for signs of helplessness on the part of their friends, such that even when they don’t say anything, their radars are alerted.

And when they are in fact alerted to the misery of their fellows, they are likewise hospitable and kind, always being the first to ask what is wrong and what they can do in order to better their situation. Sometimes, if they know a person enough, they won’t even ask; they’ll just prepare a surprise for them to help them get back in the game.

This love of friends, therefore, makes Scorpio a truly endearing sibling-at-heart. No matter how difficult things are, you can always count on them to stand by you and protect you from harm. And even when they can’t, they will try to mitigate the damage anyway and make sure that everything will be fine from here on out.

They facilitate peace not just for themselves, but for their friends and anyone lucky enough to be on their side.

Truly, these Scorpio traits make them a sign for the ages.

Weaknesses

The Scorpio zodiac sign is one truly blessed with focus, but at times, it can also be a powerful drawback to them. For starters, when they are too focused on something particularly negative, especially concerning their friends, they will often occupy their minds a little too much and end up becoming worrywarts, consumed by both concern and even revenge.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that concern is a bad thing or even that the desire to avenge a friend isn’t understandable, but the problem is that this causes Scorpio to sometimes cause even more damage than they would if they had a more informed view of the situation. This essentially limits them greatly in social contexts and can even turn them destructive.

Aside from this, they are also suspicious of other people’s motives. Granted, the water element does invite sensitivity, but because of Scorpio’s fixed nature, they sometimes have a tendency to lead themselves to think that other people can’t be trusted because their motives are often negative before they are positive. In a way, they look into the psychological iceberg a little too seriously, such that they become cynical.

Granted, while this does mean that they are kinder to those people they can accept, this, unfortunately, limits the number of people that can be friends with Scorpio, as they are often subjected to such rigorous standards that it’s impossible to truly make sense of them at times. This then repels potential friends and forces Scorpios on the path to loneliness, even when the Scorpio zodiac sign is otherwise very sociable.

With this in mind, great precaution must be taken to make sure that they don’t easily give in to their harshest tendencies. A Scorpio is a good person under the right contexts, but the characteristically difficult parts of the Scorpio personality need to be kept in check.

Love and Romance

Prickly yet gentle, the Scorpio zodiac sign is generally capable of having good relationships with other signs. However, there are certain instances when this rule of Scorpio compatibility doesn’t apply, either because they are far too different or simply as a matter of general astrological principle.

One particularly difficult instance is that of pairing with fire signs in general. The problem here is that Scorpios are normally introverts, and while they do have the social acumen to talk to other people, they generally need to recharge after every painful encounter with people. Otherwise, they become anxious.

This makes it difficult for fire signs to connect with them in any capacity, as their spontaneity and fiery natures make it difficult for Scorpios to cope. They are honestly better off with other water signs or even Earth signs, as the latter particularly suit Scorpio’s private disposition.

Air signs can likewise thrive with Scorpio around. Their characteristic freedom and understanding nature allows them to keep up with Scorpio’s demands and even take them outside of their proverbial shell, making them a perfect fit for the Scorpio zodiac sign as a whole.

Of course, Air signs who desire to be around Scorpios will need to pay attention to their introversion and acquiesce when they ask for a break.

Career

The naturally contemplative nature of the Scorpio means that they are great in desk work. When their introversion is indulged, their analytical and creative powers are at their height, which means that they can make for good graphic designers or even managers under the right circumstances.

Aside from this, they are also gifted enough to actually be well-informed about developments in the professional world. This is due to their perceptiveness and ability to assess situations from afar. This allows them to make sound decisions within the industry that can even propel them into having one of their own, if they have enough patience and time to make a business.

They are also sensitive, which means that they are also great during the initial stages of their career. They are sound and effective at assessing other people’s intentions, although their personal tendency to take things to the extreme can muddle their assessment at times. Temperance is needed to make sure they don’t suffer from this particular pitfall.

Lastly, they are generally loyal people. This means that if the company is the right fit for them, they can stay for perhaps 10 years or even more. They may take time soul-searching, but if the shoe fits, they’ll gladly stay for as long as the company lives on.

Health

The naturally defensive Scorpio has a marked significance in terms of astrological health. In fact, there are three areas that they need to be attentive of, and these areas will ultimately guide them in making good decisions concerning their long-term health. These are:

Medicine

For the Scorpio zodiac sign, the nettle serves as a great medicinal implement. This is because it helps relieve pressure while maintaining one’s energy levels, making sure that you can always duke it out with the harshest of problems throughout the day. This consistently powerful herb will make Scorpios even more competitive when they feel down or stressed, enhancing their multitasking ability.

Temperament

The phlegmatic temperament of the Scorpio zodiac sign is of particular note here. This association with moisture means that Scorpios will have to regularly deal with cold temperatures and what they can do to the body, such as colds and flu.

The fact that they have a Martian association also means that their bodies are susceptible to tension and fevers. Great care must be taken to keep temperatures at acceptable minimums.

Body Parts

The reproductive system serves as the domain of Scorpio. This is so because the Scorpio is an inherently passionate sign. However, it is also a metaphor for the tension they might feel deep inside as a result of their repressive and private tendencies.

This can cause tension to build up everywhere in the body through the release of excess hormones. Balance is, therefore, the Scorpio zodiac sign’s primary problem.

Tarot

The Scorpio tarot is also particularly interesting within astrological circles, as the four cards that are involved have unique properties behind each of them. Needless to say, these properties make the Scorpio the imposing sign that it actually is, largely to its benefit. These cards are:

Major Arcana Card

Death is the card associated with the Scorpio zodiac sign. Now, contrary to its name, it actually offers a beautifully positive insight about the zodiac sign in question. Death is associated with decay, but also with the concept of eventual rebirth and restoration, which Scorpio tends to facilitate by being a comforting source of light for people who are feeling downcast.

This makes the sign a powerful facilitator of reinvigoration.

Minor Arcana Cards

The Suit of Cups serves as the conduit for the emotionally adept Scorpio. As you’ll see, each card here represents a key aspect of a Scorpio’s life on this earth, and as such, it is best viewed as a narrative whole rather than as individual parts. The cards within the Scorpio zodiac sign’s domain are:

Five of Cups

Scorpios will, at times, be frustrated by the challenges of life. They may recoil and think that they are failures as a result of their inability to at times take control of their social situation. However, this is okay, as Scorpios will inevitably bounce back through their persistence.

Six of Cups

The Six of Cups is all about innocence and the joys of the past, which Scorpios treasure as bits and pieces of their memory. These memories of joy and fun are exactly what makes them loyal friends, as their loyalty comes from their association of the significant people of their lives with these fun times. They remember friends and will find ways to reward them for their kindness.

Seven of Cups

The Scorpio is also uniquely situated in that they are constantly bombarded with opportunity. Their private and rather stoic approach may seem like they’re missing out, but in reality, they just want to make sure that their choices don’t end up hurting their friends.
