The Pisces zodiac sign is the last in the astrological order. Fittingly, it’s a sign that combines some of the best aspects of humanity and incorporates them into its signature function. The end result is a sign that is both creative and philosophical, combining both art and reason to turn life into a truly meaningful and profound experience.

Of course, sometimes the weight of such knowledge and creativity can be crushing for most people– and Pisces feels this the most. This is why at certain points, they can feel withdrawn or otherwise isolated from the world, sometimes unable to simply take part in the fun things, preferring instead to overthink the world’s complexities and wallowing in sadness.

The primary goal of the Pisces zodiac sign, therefore, is to create a balance between breadth and depth– expanding one’s interests so they don’t end up being crushed by their emotions and intelligence.

Symbolism and Myth

The Pisces symbol is that of two fishes circling one another, which represents a sense of balance akin to the Chinese principle of the Yin-Yang. In the West, the constellation’s had their shining moments as the representation of the Roman sea-god Neptune as well as the savior of Aphrodite and Eros.

It is said that after they were saved by the fish, Aphrodite rewarded the fish with a place in the cosmos, its seal and form forever glowing in the splendor of the night sky. Aside from this, the fish is also said to be favored by Venus as a reward for their kind and helpful nature.

Putting all these together, one can see that the fish serves as an invaluable source of not just mythos, but of the entire human zeitgeist, serving as nutriment for countless civilizations, including our own.

Modality, Element, Season

Pisces and Mutable Modality

Mutable” is the word one would use to describe the Pisces zodiac sign. Of all the water signs, they are the most flexible, resembling both the force and gentleness of a wave in the sea. Just as there are times when the sea is gentle, there are likewise times when the sea is strong and fierce.

And no less is this metaphor embodied than in their sheer emotional state. They can be as calm as the low tide, but they can also be troubled by the turbulent forces around them. As a result of this wide emotional range, they are also doubly empathetic and caring for the people around them, showing their adaptability and their uncompromising love for humanity.

Pisces and the Water Element

The primary element of the Pisces zodiac sign is the water element. Associated with emotion and passion, this element compliments the mutable nature of Pisces quite well. The emotional nature of water means that they are always compassionate about the woes of their fellow people, helping them better themselves even in times of great need and crisis.

Aside from this, it also shows the tendency of Pisces to be creative. Water endorses creativity, which in turn translates into them expressing their feelings through art, writing, or any other creative medium. They are also quite proud of this fact, and will not hesitate to think and write in prose when the mood strikes them.

Pisces and the Winter Season

The exalted birth chart of astrology would place the Pisces dates between February 19 and March 20. Since these dates fall in the final days of winter, it is therefore known as the “Pisces season.” By this time, the turbulence of the world is at its height, but one can also notice everything receding and calming down.

When you look at this from a seasonal perspective, it is easy to see why the Pisces sign is considered the last of the Winter signs– their strong emotions often give way to better times, facilitating the return of the world to more pleasant and jubilant seasons.

Their mutable nature also means they can process the collective sorrow of the people around them, allowing everyone to let go of their woes and welcome the better times ahead.

Planetary Relationships

The planets in astrology serve not just as examples of a grander cosmological order but as explanations for why certain signs behave– and ought to behave– as they do. Here are the planets associated with the Pisces zodiac sign.

Pisces and Mercury

The organizational nature of Mercury serves to constrain the otherwise spontaneous nature of Pisces. By default, the Pisces zodiac sign does not see the world as something upon which order should be imposed but as a beautifully complex world where everything exists in imbalanced harmony. It serves, therefore, as a subversion to Mercury.

Pisces and Venus

Venus and Pisces have a superb relationship with one another. This is because Pisces is an emotionally receptive sign, capable of welcoming even the harshest of emotions and accepting them as parts of the quintessential human experience. It is also by these emotions that the Pisces zodiac sign is able to achieve wisdom. Hence, Venus directly nourishes and helps Pisces.

Pisces and Jupiter

The planet of hope and great fortune also happens to be the chief ruler of Pisces. Together, both Jupiter and Pisces seek to deliver hope unto the world by unleashing the creative potential of humankind. Jupiter helps Pisces persuade people into giving the world one more chance, preventing people from succumbing to cynicism. It also helps the Pisces zodiac sign express its intentions to people further.

Pisces and Neptune

Neptune is also yet another ruling planet for Pisces. The planet symbolizes creative potential, and its blue hue represents the earthly sea– a perfect compliment to the Pisces zodiac sign’s emotional tendencies. When Neptune and Pisces are together, the entire astrological realm becomes abuzz with emotion as well as prioritizing one’s mental and emotional health.

House Rulership

The Houses and their rulership over certain signs represent the fundamental fact that each sign is fundamentally different from one another. The two Houses that rule over the Pisces zodiac sign, for example, show that it is a sign that stands on its own, regardless of what similarities it may have with other signs.

Here are the Houses for the Pisces constellation:

Eleventh House: The Social House

The social nature of the eleventh House holds rulership over Pisces. After all, no human being ever exists in a vacuum. The creative power of the Pisces zodiac sign derives itself from the fact that there are other people like them and that these people are always willing to listen to what others have to say. The social house is a house of community and friendships, and both are essential to the life of a Pisces.

If nothing else, think of what the lack of friendship means for a Pisces sign. Without the nurturing hugs of the people around them, a Pisces is left alone, whispering their agony into the void. This means that in order to feel the world at its most joyful, the Pisces zodiac sign needs the people in their immediate environment, such that everything can truly feel like they’re in place.

Twelfth House: The House of Instinct

The twelfth house in astrology represents the difficult facts about our own emotional states. All our prejudices, hatred, lust, and love belong in this particular House, and at the center of all of these things is the Pisces zodiac sign. Being a sign of emotion, Pisces feels everything that the twelfth House contains several more times than other signs, and this results in them withdrawing from people sometimes.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom with this house. The fact that Pisces rules here mean that they are the ultimate empaths. They know when people are hurt, and they can therefore help them in such a way that even other signs can’t. They won’t just offer advice– they’ll cushion the blow of their harshest emotions and deliver positivity on their own, filling the void that comes with releasing one’s worst traits.

Personality

Pisces personality is often defined by certain, characteristically Pisces traits: emotion, love, instinct, and passion. By default, they tend to harness these passions to the best of their ability in everything that they do, be it art, philosophy or even their work if they actually love what they are doing.

Aside from this, they are also caring with their friends, readily giving them advice, and being right by their side. In fact, because of their emotional nature, they will even cry with them and share the long night without saying or doing anything at all if the other side asks. They are sensitive to the needs of others as well as themselves.

However, things can get heavy for them, turning them into sad husks at certain times that likewise need nurturing from other people. Tending to their emotions as well as those of other people can be quite a challenge, after all.

Strengths

One of the many strengths that easily tilts the Pisces horoscope in their favor happens to be the fact that their minds directly harness the power of their hearts. When angered, for example, a Pisces can use that anger to make things better, such as helping the poor, cooking good food, or even painting.

Likewise, when Pisces are happy, they can also turn them into positive thoughts. When they are not making art, they express themselves in other ways, such as body language or even physical intimacy (if you’re a couple). These expressions reinforce both themselves and the strength of the relationship– and the latter in particular is extremely crucial.

For example, when they engage in more intimate moments, they not only gain a positive boost to their emotions as a result of the connections involved, they can even radiate positivity back into their partner, ensuring that their day is made and that they can deal with life’s challenges with a renewed vigor and love of life.

The Pisces zodiac sign is also a constantly compassionate anchor. Even when they do not know the people around them, they will often find ways to make sure that they’re cared for. By donations or even just by simple advice, they end up making the world a much more tolerable place for those who have problems.

This also means that they are usually friendly and easy to approach at work. Though they have their moments of introversion, the fact that they are compassionate means that they will always spare time for their friends and family, making them a true asset no matter where they are in the world.

This, combined with their artistic prowess, easily makes them true human beings as they are able to tap both their emotional and intellectual faculties to make sure that their community is great, or, if nothing else, that everyone within the Pisces zodiac sign’s zone of influence is alright.

Weaknesses

Though the Pisces zodiac sign’s primary strengths are social in nature, they are also the source of many of their worst problems. For starters, they tend to trust people a little too much as a result of their compassion. When they listen to other people, they often do so without taking things with a grain of salt.

Now, of course, there is nothing wrong with trusting others. When you trust others, however, you need to make sure that you’ve studied them and done enough of your due diligence to make sure that they are not going to stab you in the back. The fact that they often ignore this means that they do, and when this happens, they easily have their hearts broken.

Aside from trusting others way too much, they also tend to be doubtful of their own abilities. The Pisces zodiac sign is an emotional one, and often this translates to them thinking that they just aren’t good enough or that they’re not smart enough because they prioritize their own heart.

As such, there is a need for Pisces to dispel this mindset and free themselves from the grip of their own overthinking nature. There are times when they aren’t good enough, yes, but most of the time, they need to understand that their abilities are unique and that they can actually handle most of the world’s challenges.

Only if they bite more than they can chew will they fail, and since this doesn’t often happen, the guarantee of astrology is that things will be alright for them. But it’s not just their overthinking that can overpower them, either. After all, there are times when they are willing to simply let things go even if someone has offended them dearly because they are too understanding.

There is a thin line between understanding and justice– and a balance of both should be the aim of the Pisces zodiac sign in order to truly live in a bright world.

Love and Romance

Pisces compatibility is often amazing as a result of their robust, yet dynamic emotional hold on themselves. This means, of course, that the Pisces zodiac sign is naturally going to find their partner from all across the elements. The only problem, however, is that some will be a bit more resistant to them and will even stretch their understanding.

An example of this is the Fire element. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are all volatile and aggressive signs in their way, such that Pisces may actually have problems interacting with them. They might see each other as controlling, and unless a compromise is reached, they’ll run into problems.

Water signs, however, are right at home with Pisces. This is because like them, they understand each other’s emotional needs and will often try to fill them with their own sense of creativity. When put together, this gives rise to a truly potent partnership that can change even the world itself.

Earth and Air signs are also good fits for Pisces. Earth provides the much needed control and stability to reassure the Pisces zodiac sign that everything will be alright. Air signs, on the other hand, will allow Pisces to get out of their comfort zone and try new things to better their understanding of the world.

Career

The career of a Pisces is often difficult to assess as they often have a tendency to be whimsical. The storm of their emotions means that there are times when their mood starts to change, and they decide to not finish something, even though they’ve probably worked on it for quite some time.

This means inconsistency at work which can spell trouble for Pisces as this means that while they can deliver quality outputs and even make them on time, there are also times when they just feel out of it and can’t be counted on, especially if the job in question requires dedication.

Now, this doesn’t mean Pisces people are not hard-working, but their priorities do change according to their emotional demands. In exchange, however, they can be a constant pillar of support for other teammates who might have some emotional problems, offering them solidarity and love.

If they are able to stay consistent while still displaying the same emotional concern for others, then, they can truly become a powerhouse in terms of their career. They will be able to avoid the pitfalls associated with the lack of consistency and they will end up having a more secure career.

Health

Pisces is a sign that constantly undergoes stress and problems, and part of these problems are often indirectly self-inflicted. As such, there is a need for Pisces to learn about the things astrology has to say regarding their health to help them get out of their heads and live a healthy life. These are:

Medicine

There is no better medicine for Pisces than the Lemon Balm. Its calming flavor and ability to help with indigestion and removing toxins from the body easily help Pisces people cope with their personal problems and stresses. If they feel particularly taxed, they can use this herb to help them keep a cool head and maintain their decision-making power even during the long winter months.

Temperament

Pisces’ temperament is phlegmatic, which is associated with moisture and low temperatures. This perfectly demonstrates the impact that emotion has over the Pisces zodiac sign. On regular days, Pisces can handle emotions well, but there are times when they become too overcome by it that emotion itself has a chilling effect, hampering their ability to function.

Body Parts

The body parts concerning Pisces are those that often feel things the most and remove impurities from the body: the lymph nodes, feet, and the liver together. All these parts are sensitive to everything around them and therefore embody the Pisces’ fundamentally sensitive nature.

This also represents the kind of lifestyle they need to have: staying healthy, avoiding alcohol, and taking antioxidants will help them stay healthy.

Tarot

The Pisces tarot is defined by four special cards that partly explains the intricacy and uniqueness held by the Two Fishes. Each card also explains the life and path that a Pisces may have, as well as what you can do to make things better. These are the cards:

Major Arcana Card

The Major Arcana card for the Pisces happens to be the Moon. It displays the fundamental tension and flux that Pisces experiences on a daily basis. It represents the unconscious mind and the uncertainties that one has to acknowledge over the course of accepting it.

For the Pisces sign, it also means that there is a need for them to work on their personal Shadow in order for them to truly manifest positivity upon the world– and within themselves.

Minor Arcana Cards

The Pisces’ Minor Arcana cards come primarily from the suit of cups. The cup– often the symbol of friendship and solidarity– is also representative of the emotional challenges that come with human existence. Pisces is at the forefront of all of these, as explained by the high-numbered cards that represent it.

Eight of Cups

The Eight of Cups represents sadness at the thought of abandonment, which represents Pisces’ greatest fear. It is a humbling card that shows the vulnerability of the sign but also its greatest strength.

The more friends they have, the less likely they’ll abandon their cause as nothing makes them feel more alive than being part of a larger whole.

Nine of Cups

When Pisces is able to meet its life goals, the Nine of Cups becomes its reality. They become happy and content with their life knowing that they have a stable company that will keep them steady across each challenge. It shows the true resilience of the Pisces when everything goes their way.

Ten of Cups

The Ten of Cups shows the perfection of this company. When they achieve their greatness, they manifest only positivity and become one with the world in a more jubilant way. In turn, it also highlights their potential to help others if they can fix themselves. Truly, Pisces people are powerful if they live correctly.
